Women's History Month 2017 #BeBoldForChange
Creating an identity for a campaign to encapsulate the essence of female-empowerment
The University of Central Florida's Office of Diversity and Inclusion held campaigns every year for significant months or events that celebrated historic milestones relating to diversity and equality in the United States. Women's history month was one of those special occasions. However, Women's history month of 2017 was particularly heavy: the month followed the wake of the 2017 Women's March sparked by the results of the 2016 US Election, and its following divisiveness in politics and society. The office asked to honor the influential women activists that came before this year in a well-thought out design that was empowering and preserved history. The key challenge, however, was to also avoided stereotypical tropes that could divide women from the majority in an already divisive climate (such as using the color pink, or female-centric symbolism, etc.). My design was commissioned for $250.00 and was deemed the winner of the Women's History Month 2017 campaign.
