Peter Saville: The Bio
Encapsulating the designer's legacy in a printed biography: designed just like how he would've designed it.
This project set out to turn a regular research paper into a work of design in itself. We were tasked with the job of writing about our assigned influential designer, but instead of turning in a two to four page essay, we had to print, crop, and saddle-stitch a booklet together all from scratch. The booklet also had to be designed in the way our designer would've done it if they created one during their career: to do this we had to abandon our own brand and adopt our designers' for the final result. This booklet covered the design career of Peter Saville: an influential art director and graphic designer who rose to prominence after creating iconic album and record covers for famous artists. The design of the booklet, therefore, mimicked his minimalist, monochromatic style while using the forms of a record or CD cover as the box for the pages and images throughout the book.
